Kumar Sekhar Kammula is an Indian Film Director, Screenwriter and Producer, known for his works exclusively in Telugu Cinema.Sekhar was among the director’s delegation to represent Indian Cinema at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.[4]
Sekhar Kammula is from Eluru, Andhra Pradesh. schooled at St. Patrick’s High School, Secunderabad. He completed his intermediate studies from St. Alphonsa’s and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology. He later went to the Rutgers University, and pursued a Master’s degree in Computer Sciences. After a brief career in the IT industry at CITI-CORP, He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts program from Howard University, Washington, D.C.
he made his directorial debut with the independent film ‘Dollar Dreams’ (2000), which was a critical success, and won him the National Film Award for Best First film of a director. His second film, ‘Anand’, was a blockbuster in 2004. His next film, ‘Godavari’, was praised by critics and was a hit. ‘Happy Days’, which was released on 28 September 2007, was declared a smash hit. It was remade in Tamil and Kannada. He was a writer for Tamil version which was released in 2010. He then directed ‘Leader’ released on 19 February 2010 to positive reviews. then made “Life Is Beautiful” in 2012, Mukunda in 2014,Anaamika in 2014 which is telugu and tamil language film remake of hindi Kahani. he is currently working on Fidha 2016 with Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi.
In 2016, Sekhar Kammula announced his Bollywood debut with a film starring Salman Khan.
